Many of you here know my husband MacHete (AKA Bryan). He will be having hernia repair surgery tomorrow and I would like you to please send prayers, smoke, good thoughts and positive energy his way. :)

I will write back soon and let you know how he's doing.

Thanks so much. I know Bryan thinks the world of you guys/gals!

Hi Kat!
Nice to meet You, and All the BEST for Your Guy!
I had the Hernia Surg, and all went well, so I expect the same for MH.

I know hernia repair is a pretty straight-forward procedure these days. When I initially scheduled the surgery, in fact, my Doc said it would take less than an hour and I could go back to work (light duty) the next day. My employer has kind of a weird medical leave policy which requires us to take at least six work days off, and doesn't allow "light duty" returns to work for non-worker's comp. absences.

Kathy was concerned because this would be the first time I was put under general anesthesia since I was diagnosed with moderate-severe sleep apnea, and we had been warned about the possibilty of complications/difficulties tied to that condition.

They did have trouble getting me out of anesthesia, getting my blood/oxygen levels & blood pressure back up. It took a bag and a half of ringers to bring up my BP from 88/51 in recovery and they had me on and off supplemental O2 several times because my saturation had dropped 23%.

And, I'm guessing my hernia had worsened quite a bit over the month between scheduling the procedure and having it done, because now I won't be released to go back to work until Nov. 13th and I have to wear a funky elastic corset-thing until then.

Overall, though, I'm doing alright. I'm trying to move around as much as I can, and I'm only taking my pain meds at about 1/3 of the prescribed dose/rate. Kathy is trying to dote on me, but I'm trying not to exploit it too much. ;)

Thank you all again for your support. You guys are awesome.
