Hi Spark,

Just wondering if it would be possible to have a Buck Knives "Wanted To Buy" sub-forum or at least add it to the current Buck Knives "For Sale" sub-forum? As you are aware, there is a tremendous following of Buck Knives and with over 50 years of variations and changes in knife models and sheaths, Buck collectors would greatly benefit from utilizing Blade Forums and its members to its maximum potential as a source to find rare and hard to find Buck knives, sheaths, and accessories.

Since its beginning in November 2006, the Buck Knives "For Sale" sub-forum has generated 2252 threads averaging approximately 250 new threads per year. IMO, this demonstrates the interest level of collecting Buck Knives and a "Wanted To Buy" sub-forum would only enhance this great forum and our hobby.

I realize there is a general "Wanted To Buy" forum, but Buck specific ads seems to get easily lost in the sea of ads and most Buck guys do not go outside of the Buck Knives forum. We're an unusually close family. :)

Needless to say, I feel a Buck Knives "Wanted To Buy" sub-forum would be exceptionally welcomed and appreciated by the Buck community.

Many thanks for your consideration,

Tom

Hello Spark

As a Buck Knife collector I would support a "Wanted to Buy" sub forum either on its own or add it to the For sale" sub forum.
This would be a great benefit to the Buck Knife collector comunity here on Blade Forum.

Thanks for your consideration

I have no dog in this fight, but I honestly don't see that much activity in the existing WTB section regarding Buck knives as it is. Adding more and more Exchange subforums is going to make things more complicated. With respect to Chris Reeve knives, they only have the sales section and all WTB stuff goes in the WTB section, so far so good. Just some thoughts.

Not sure how adding a WTB sub-forum under the existing FS sub-forum (or just adding it to the FS sub-forum) makes things more complicated. Makes things more organized, IMO. :)

I too would like to see a WTB option. If another forum presents too much clutter then allowing WTB in the Buck Knives for sale sup forum offers a less cluttered solution.
The mods and the long time members do a great job of reminding posters of the rules. I believe they would continue to do a good job regarding WTB posts as well.
If a volunteer is needed, I volunteer. I have admin experience on another non-knife forum.

Nto exactly when it comes to those that monitor things, especially when we already have such a place.

This place you already have does not get used by any of us Buck people, look at my WTB ivory buck knives post, 6 views since June, so no new ivory buck knives for me....at least not through this avenue, which is unfortunate because I think they are out there for me, just not the right group of people seeing my request. We have a good mod, 300, and I'm sure he would be honored to monitor the addition of a Buck wanted sub forum. Another thing I will mention while I am here, it seems a lot of just regular registered users have no problem buying and selling, so maybe something else on too of just monitoring needs to be done, whatever that is, maybe write the program so only good or higher can post on sale and wanted forums

Paid or higher. It's a looking for. I'm also a BCCI member.

It's not going to happen. Not enough traffic to warrant it. In the meantime feel free to post WTB stuff in the existing WTB forums, if there's enough traffic to warrant it then we will reevaluate.

Thanks Spark. Could you please explain how adding WTB to the existing Buck For Sale forum is not an option? This is a sincere question out of curiosity.

Best,
Tom

Thank you for a decision. And thanks for the site and lack of advertising. Here is a quote from me in the Buck forum before I read your decision.

I would assume so. Registered users can not access the wtb forum or post for sale. It is an encouragement to get a gold subscription which I understand totally. Sites like this takes money and volunteers to operate and I appreciate the lack of advertising banners all over the place. Ever been to ar15.com? WOW, it'll blow you computer up, lol.
With all that said, if wtb was added to the Buck forum I would seriously have to consider a gold sub. Hey, with all my forum memberships, two boys using my ammo, a girl, a wife, Buck fever...there is only so much $$ to go around...someone will have to go hungry. :p

I guess what I am trying to say is Blade Forums could get a few more subscriptions if a sub forum was created or, as we are all hoping for, at least allow wtb in the buck 4 sale forum.
You could always reverse the decision if it causes problems.
Thanks for your consideration.

In the current Want To Buy forums anyone can post a thread. If you post one as a Registered User or Basic member yours would be the only one that is visible. Gold Members and higher can see all threads that are posted because they have the privileges to sell here.

If "Want To Buy" threads were allowed in the current sales forums (Buck or otherwise), anyone would be able to contact those individuals and try to sell them a knife, in effect skirting the rules.

MaxCast, I highly doubt that adding a specific WTB forum or allowing it in threads will generate more subscriptions since for two reasons.

1. The current WTB forums do not get nearly the amount of traffic as the sales forums. Production Folders (Individual) & Production Fixed Blades (Individual) forums for example, have threads on the first page that were started only a couple of days ago and usually have 200-400 views per thread.
The WTB: Knives have threads on the first page that were started only a couple of days ago, yet the views range from 4-49 with most under 30.
Plus, while the Buck Sales Forum is used, I would not call it heavily trafficked by comparison. Each thread has heck of a lot of views yes, however there is still a thread on the first page from 12/30/2015. Compared to the other sales forums, 250 threads a year is quite slow. The CRK sales forum already has almost 1,200 threads in just over half a year of existence.

2. Why pay for something when you can get it for free? Just like buying, anyone can register an account for free to post a WTB thread.

Just my opinion guys, sorry if I rained on anyone's parade.

You didn't rain on my parade. Thanks for the helpful and understandable explanation.
