I have a Kershaw Offset, and have noticed something of a resemblance between it and the Captain. IMO, The Offset looks more useful to me, but I'd like other opinions about why the Captain might be a better knife, or just some simple comparing and contrasting. Thanks.

Size, weight, handle material and blade steel are three advantages the Captain has without having handled either of them.

The Offset is MUCH bigger...I like the offset's lock more, but I prefer the manual and spyderhole of the captain. In a couple months, Offsets will be available in G10, and I think the molding of Kershaw's G10 is great (as well as the texture of Spyderco's). There is a big price diff in favor of the Spyderco.

I don't find them similar myself, but if you want one, I think the big deciding factors will be price and size. The Offset is massive and much more expensive. If you want Kershaw's interpretation of the Manix, the Offset might be where to go, but for an EDC, the captain is the clear choice. Both very cool...the captain, I think, is underrated. Hopefully I'll get to handle on in real life soon.

Funny you list the smaller knife as ADVANTAGES! Some folks might disagree!
IMO, the Offset is a lot less bulky than the Chinook, which I owned. I wasn'st sure about the size and heft of the Captain.
BTW, I see them being similar in having two distinct grinds, the bottom inward, the top outward.
What about it's utility value?

The Captain doesnt even have a point. How do you not have a point on a knife!?! I use the point on my knife(knives) all the time, if for nothing more than cleaning my nails.

The captain may not have as pronounced of a point but it will definitely penetrate.
