I absolutely love my Spyderco Perrin knives. I've got both the Street Beat (fantastic fixed blade EDC) and the Street Bowie.

Spyderco....please make a Street Bowie with a real full tang ( à la Street Beat). This is a great knife. Great blade steel, finger choil, handle and blade shapes. All that is needed to make this knife nearly ideal would be a full tang, it would make this knife feel a lot more "solid"....

....you can keep the same "grippy" handle material. That feature helps to differentiate it from the street beat...

...hope someone is listening.....:)

Full tang = more weight, higher cost, and minimal benefit.

This isn't some Junglas that you go out and baton through logs for your wiener youtube friends. It's a defensive blade and light camping/food prep blade. It doesn't need the full tang in my humble opinion.
If you want a more robust full-tang design check out the Temperance II, or go for a large camping blade from some of the other big brands.

I know what you're saying..... However the end of the handle has a "mushy" feeling to it, full tang would fix that. The extra steel to cover the extra inch or so wouldn't add much weight. Probably not much in cost either.... I do use it for food prep...got no "wiener YouTube friends". Whatever those are.

BTW...the Street Beat has got the same vocation as the Street Bowie and it has a full tang. You aren't gonna baton much with a 3.5 inch. blade....

Lol, I'm poking fun at the miscellaneous 18 year old kids on Youtube who thwack their blades through logs like it's going out of style.
But I hear ya. Still a fantastic blade. So much knife for the money.

The Street Beat shouldn't have one either.

I think that you would find exactly what you need in the ARK.....the Beat already has a short tang. The end of the tang rests comfortably in the bottom of my palm, perfect for me.
Will definitely get a couple of ARKs, if it gets produced.... However, they probably would be a 3 finger hold....

I also hate the mushy, cheap feel of the street beat. I sold mine because I didn't ever carry it because the goofy soft rubber stuck to my undershirt in a way that a knife handle never should :barf:

It doesn't have to be made with a full tang, they could leave it the way it is, put a solid micarta or G10 handle on it and it would be a vast improvement. The venerated Randall model 7 uses similar construction, with a stick tang and solid material around it.

The knife, as is, feels blade heavy to me. Extending the tang a bit and using just about anything else for handle material would go a long way.

Yeah, that is what scared me away from the Bowie, rubber handles mounted high and shirts are annoying. It would be interesting to see how you'd do a Street Beat with a stick tang, though.

I agree that the there's something weird about the squishiness of the rubber inserts. They have more give in some places than others. Makes me wonder what's going on beneath them. I had an original and don't remember any squishiness.
It balances slightly in front of the index finger. I agree that the balance should be neutral.
I disagree that it should be a full tang.

IMHO the street beat's full tang is no hindrance. As I said, fits my hand perfectly. Handle is short enough not to rub up against you. You can even wear it inside the waistband without feeling it. The handle is nice and smooth so it doesn't snag on anything. The large finger choil and aggressive jimping locks your hand in, despite the smooth handle.....love the darn thing and the most comfy fixed EDC that I've tried.... You might have better experience though.

Can't wait for the ARK.... Smaller but I hope it'll be as interesting. Might be able to just sit it in the bottom of a pocket...
