Hi All

I could use some advice. My brother in law is leaving the navy after 25 years. I would like to give him a special gift with a naval theme. Could you suggest any specific knife makers that make custom knives with a naval theme. $500-1000 range.

Thanks for your help

First question, folder or fixed blade? Second question, by naval theme do you mean a knife for use by sailors or naval officers, or a knife embellished with a naval theme?

you might look at Boye custom knives.
He makes things specifically designed with sailing/boating in mind.

Thanks everyone..appreciate the info... I am thinking of a knife associated with naval officers. Could be fixed or folder. More important to have meaning for my bro inlaw

I don't know if there is any knife associated with naval officers. My son graduated from the naval academy in 2007 and he had a dress sword given to him as a graduation present. They use it in weddings and other functions. My son carries an ingraved Strider that I gave to him.

Naval dirks are presented to officers of many navies, including US. Get a single edged one made & engraved.

The engraved naval dirk sounds like the perfect gift. Can you suggest a knife maker or dealer that can help me with this gift. Again...I truly appreciate all of your suggestions and help.

You didn't say what Naval career path he followed - if he's got history with Special Ops, you might consider finding a "Reeve-Harsey" Neil Roberts commemorative fixed blade - beautiful knife memorializing a Lost SEAL.
