I found out one of my online friends has a balisong.

It's a 1985 Pacific Cutlery International Series from Japan.

He says:

It's a weehawk blade.
That photo of the "1985 Pacific Cutlery.." and "International Series" stamps are the exact thing on the blade. [He's referring to the PC tang and blade stamps on Chuck's page]

The handles are black with oval holes instead of the more rectangular ones in the photo. [I showed him a picture of a PC tanto, with Jaguar-style holes]

The holes have insets which are also black.
The insets, like the handle, are made of metal as far as I can tell.

I have a sheath for it.

It was so long ago when I bought it. I think I paid in the vicinity of $60 for it.

I've kept it in my toolbox. I had no idea it might be a collectors item.

Any idea what this might be, and what it might be worth? I'm not too familiar with PC balisongs. I also don't know what kind of condition it's in.

Update: Got a little more..."the hole pattern is 2-1 with the biggest being 2 times the size of the smallest."

No sure, you could send i to me an I'l take a closer look:D :p
Seriously though I have never heard of the double dot and big hole design with inserts. Sounds very nice. Wouldnt happen to have a pic?

Sounds like you've got a PC168B International Series WeeHawk. The handles are 'filled' with a black resin. I would think one in excellent condition (if they've been flipped the black finish will have worn off of the blade) would bring around $125-$165 depending on how much it had been used, if the original box was with the knife, etc... Does it look something like this one???

I showed him the picture Dawkind posted, and he says that's it, except the blade isn't black.

Are the filled in ovals in the handles black or a silver/gold? If it has black inserts but the silver holes and a regular blade (no black on it) than it is a PC 159.

I haven't seen a picture of his, he just said it's the one in Dawkind's picture. I'm assumming the handles are all black...and he said the blade was plain...was there no model made like that? Well, you never know what might have happened in this guy's toolbox.
