Requesting info on George Herron knife

I recently inherited a knife from my father and I was looking for any information on it. It appears to be a George Herron knife with the number 1148 on it. From what I understand, there were 2 serial number periods. There are photos of another 1148 on an image search but it isn't this knife. I am very much knife illiterate and any information on it would be appreciated.
