Hey, y'all,

There are two Sharpfinger variants I've seen recently and can't find any data on either. Any info would be appreciated.

#1 appears to be a "bankruptcy knife" with a high carbon blade with SC tangstamp and smooth (not sawcut) black Delrin scales with nickel plated rivets.

#2 has a plate that reads OLD TIMER but the scales are camo plastic.

Anyone able to tell me anything about either of these knives?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum tyr_shadowblade! You've been around long enough to know that a positive I.D. requires pictures. But I'll give your questions my best guess.

First regarding the black handled "SC" marked knife:
#1 appears to be a "bankruptcy knife" with a high carbon blade with SC tangstamp and smooth (not sawcut) black Delrin scales with nickel plated rivets.

Back in the early 1980's, Schrade made a series of special order Scrimshaw knives for Kresge... K-Mart... for their sporting goods department.

Kresge wanted them to be different from regular production so the scrim art was placed on the opposite (pile) side as was the tang stamp. In keeping with the reversal of the art and stamp location, the Schrade scrimshaw number was reversed with 502SC becoming SC205. A few examples emerged from the sample room after the bankruptcy auction which went whole hog on the reversal theme by using black Delrin for the handles and white artwork. The result wasn't very appealing to K-Mart (or to me).

That is my best guess as to the origin of the knife you saw, an unfinished sample for K-Mart.

As to the second question:
#2 has a plate that reads OLD TIMER but the scales are camo plastic.

This sounds to me like one of the new Taylor Brands Limited Liability Company knives. Is this it?

Hope this helped.

I have a 502SC smooth handled in black that was used for the POW MIA
special issue. There is no other marking on the knife.

I like that white on black look. In fact, I think Schrade could have done more black delrin handles to their advantage. I especially like any smooth black up against the nickel silver shield and bolsters.

There's a fellow on eBay who apparently bought an entire case of SC205 with no markings on blade and no engraving on handle. The same seller has been putting one of these for sale every few weeks. Since I'd never seen the smooth black handles anywhere else I was wondering the origin.

Was at a motorcycle function yesterday and several fellows were carrying the camo Old Timers on their belts, which I'd never seen before. Was unaware that Taylor LLC made a camo handle.

Thanks!
