Did a search and it appears noone is talking about the Snubby. I'm considering picking one up for travel in sensitive areas and am interested in reviews and opinions. Hope someone can help.

I carried one for a while.

It's your traditional Emerson.

This means all the good and the not-so-good.

Good:

- The WAVE. Need I say more?

- Amazing ergonomics. Handle is among the most comfortable and also secure that you can get in a folder.

- Blade is short enough to be legal in a lot of places. I managed to get it into several Federal facilities where the security was aware of the < 2.9" limit on edged devices.

Not-so-good:
- The double detent ball setup is not only less grippy in staying shut, but also not as smooth as most single-detent setups.

- 0.050" Linerlock. If you trust them, you trust them. If you don't.... you dont.

- Short blade design combined with low saber grind makes it a not very aggressive or efficient cutter. It's thick and sturdy; it's not exactly slicey or stabby. A lot more resistance when cutting things than with something thinner or narrower, but you do get the tip and edge strength.

Hope this helps.

Some say it looks a bit odd with the shorter blade larger handle concept but to me its no more odd than some of the other knives out there with the same idea. I find it to be an appealing knife in the hand. It does feel good and the grip is sure enough to make that short blade work like a big one.

I carry mine a lot since converting it to a frame lock but I did take off the Wave feature on that one because personally it didn't work all that well for me on that model but I must be unique there. I have not had others complain about it. I just could not get the Wave to ever really work as easy or fully like the one I also have been putting to work lately and others I've had in Ernie's line up.
