It's been years since I've been on here, suprised I actually remembered my password and that my account still exsists. 36,000 new posts to read apparently... anyways, I'll do that later... I have a SJLE that I bought sometime back in 2001/2002 area and I was trying to look up some info on it but I had not much luck... so who better to ask than all the infi addicts here! I was curious if you'd know the year it was made based on the number, how rare it is, would it be one actually made by Jerry himself or is it a "factory" knife? Either way, maybe just enjoy a couple pictures! :) Thanks guys!

Awesome!!!! I can't help you out with your questions, I'm a new guy compared to most fellas round here.

I would be interested in buying it though should you decide to sell, PLEASE let me know. :)

The number doesn't really indicate how many were made because from my understanding they often skip numbers and such.....at least that's now a days.

Definitely a very hard to find knife!

I'm not sure if we are allowed to give prices on here or not....e-mail me and I'll tell you what I'd give ya for it. ;) :D

SJ LE - Satin Jack Limited Edition (2001): $327
As to an actual production time it was made I can't answer that except I think I can say with a degree of confidence that #115 was made early in the run. Jerry ground or not I have know idea on that one. Nice to see the condition is still awesome on that SJ:thumbup:

Thanks for the information guys, didn't know asking for what it could be worth was taboo, disregard that part and thanks for the heads up.

These were made before my time so I can't give you much info other than that is a sweet piece and I am jealous.

Garth

LOL ... $327 might be what you paid for it but it is worth a fair bit more ... you would need to check the exchange to look for prices but it is such a rare piece that not many will be there.

Not sure basic membership enables a search ? Some kind Hog will probably be able to help you though, I'm sure.

That is a great knife to hang on to ... pre 2009 and the economic crash ... those were going for big money. Trevor ( Knifehunter ) had a great collection and pic's at one point so might well be able to help on exchange prices.

If the knife preceeds Garth ... it is possible Jerry did it ...

lightweight,

Nice SJLE!
Unfortunately, while you can ask about it's details, i.e., rarity, who ground it, etc... You can not inquire about it's current value under your current membership per new BladeForums rules. If someone states a current value, I will be forced to remove the thread. Since you aren't interested in selling it, this should not be a problem...right? :)

@ 13ninjas... YOU KNOW BETTER. :grumpy: Do it again and you'll get the infraction that you're buckin' for. lightweight cannot sell here under his current membership and you know this since you are a Gold member. You should also want him to support BladeForums just like YOU if he does decide to sell it here... Not to mention that this forum is NOT the Knives: WTB forum, right?

I removed it in the original post, don't want to make any waves. ;) I saw in my last posts that I received it in late 2002. Thanks for all the given info guys, and the compliments on it! :)

Light Weight,

You've got a knife that pre-dates must of the folks on the forum at present...

If I recall correctly, that LE was part of the original release of the Satin Jack (very shortly after the CG). Granted, I've suffered a fair amount of blunt trauma to my "brain housing group".

Hopefully Hammy, OneWhoBuys, or better, the Boss Man Himself will drop in for a look-see.

In any case, it's a keeper! Perhaps you can use it to produce the fabled "frozen tear"!

Thanks for the info Oku....you lost me on the fabled "frozen tear" though... that went right over my head.

The LE's were delivered through out 2002 and 2003, Some Combat Grades were out as early as 2001
2002 was a big delivery year for the SJ's
Common wait time was "2 Weeks"
Back in the day when 2 weeks till delivery ment 5 to 9 months, sometimes longer.

Great knife and one you should use or at least keep just in case times got rough.
It was part of a production run and was not hand ground.

You should keep that one unless you just don't think it would ever be used, in that case do some research and pass it on.
Much like the stock market there are ups and downs in Busse prices, right now prices are down.

Thanks 1whobuys!

I remember waiting "2 weeks" haha. I also remember becoming slightly impatient... I was 19 though. I orginally thought I'd use it, but I could never bring myself to... I would look at it and think it was too darn perfect, can't mess it up haha. I think I'll most likely keep it as an heirloom for my future kids. It's not often you come across such fine craftsmenship. :)

Sorry about that LightWeight..."the tear" must be a late 90's reference.....damn, that makes me feel old!

I'd be willing to bet 1whobuys at least got a 'smirk' though... ; )
