I just read a comment on the SYKCO forum that said the res c handles on some bussekins have quality control issues. They said that there are sometimes gaps where the res-c is attached to the handle near the choil, creating rust hazards/problems. anyone else experience this problem, and if so has busse, sw, sy corrected it?

I remember reading something somewhere about
a teeny tiny little area on very few old time res-c handles
that had a gap there.
I wouldnt worry about it at all

Remember
If you got an issue
forget the tissue
send it to Busse Combat

If you see a micro sized gap and it causes concern you can put a small amount of silicone chaulk over it to seal it.

Are you referring to this War Dog Cut-away thread ?
It's the thread where Dan dissects a War Dog and explains how there are intentional shallow steps designed into the Res-c handles to accommodate a variety of blades into the same handles.

By reading Dan's post, I gather it is not a quality control issue, but instead is designed as intended.

No, but it is exactly the concern I had, it answered my initial question, and I found the thread very interesting! Thanks

No problems with mine and I have more than a few Res-C handled blades from the Yard and one from Busse.

If the tang and the inside of the grip were coated with synthetic, waerproof, rubber-safe grease, this would be a non-issue.

Let's see if I have this right. You advocate covering the tang of the knife in grease, and then sliding it into the handle?

Would there not be some risk of the knife flying away in the course of vigorous chopping?

Doubtful as the res does not rely on friction for securement.
