RES-C OLD SCHOOL

You mean sorta like this one? I doubt we'll see a comeback of Modified INFI because as I recall it no longer was more affordable than Infi but perhaps it's time for a run of Busse Basic's?

This is one that I just reprofiled to 33 Degrees inclusive (16 1/2 degrees per side) which tapers up to 45 degrees inclusive at the tip... it's now a really nice blend of robustness and cutting ability. It started life as a coated blade with an assymetric edge, so i stripped the coating and now it's a traditional V-grind edge which for many will be much less drama to sharpen than the original assymetric edge (hint : grind ONLY the narrow side of the edge to restore the apex to sharpness).

I actually don't mind the assymetric edge for that reason, because if you grind only the thin side of the edge then you actually can remove material much more rapidly than the wide bevel on the other side. However, I am not fond of it for other reasons personally. Bring back the assymetric edge while we're at it, lol???

Consider the possibility that current INFI is = to former Mod INFI.

Are you stating that it is equal or that it MAY be equal? I was simply saying performance aside there's no reason for M-Infi to ever be used again because it was designed to be cheaper from the beginning. Also, I don't get wrapped around the axles between the steels they use in general and I highly doubt most will ever tell a difference other than corrosion resistance (given similar blade and edge geometry).

I reckon INFI was A8 and currently they use A8mod = modified infi 😆
