Awesome man. This should be great. On this same topic I was trying to find horse stall mat to use for handles on my condor parang. Anyone have a source? For the 39 bucks I paid. It destroys all Busse kin swords and choppers.

Kalel, this should be an interesting project. Please let us know how it turns out.

tt, I need to see these destroyed Busse kin swords and choppers, you know the rules, pics or it didn't happen. ;)

I have always wondered what was under the cord wrap :)

Looks like a cool project.

That parang has tempted me. Like I really need another chopper.

For horse stall mat, try contacting randucci through the Forum email or PM. He has used it. Or post over in the Makers forum, they're pretty helpful.

cjpgeyer and i put neoprene slabs on his scrapizashi last fall and it makes one heck of a difference. i was suprised when we took the old handle off to see electric conduit flattened on one side then cord wrapped to the handle with a ribbon wrap finishing it off.

send me an email and i'll send you some pictures of the finished handle.

Interested to see the result...I saw horse mat handle scales for sale on a major knife making supplies website...can't recall which one. Regarding the condor parangs...I have two...and like them...in fact I chopped a bunch with one yesterday...even got to kill an invasive snake with it... However, you should know better than to use a phrase like "destroys all Busse kin...", as it is subjective and undefined. Would it function better at certain tasks? Yes. So does a $5 machete made in China. Does it out perform at all levels? Most certainly not... Put a BM in a vice and start chopping at it with the parang...let's see what destroys what. How about stabbing a charging wounded boar? Would ya pick up an AK or the rounded tip parang? How about when hiking 15 miles a day, for 5 days straight at altitude and mountain climbing...parang or sarge 7...hmmmm. Or, how about long hikes in tall dense grassy bush... 17 inch blade 0.25 thick...probably not. My point is that it is best not to make blanket unfounded statements..., well, not when it's adverse to Busse products anyway.
Peace.
