There were at least a couple of micarta versions of this knife. white, black & I think ... burgandy (won't swear to the burgandy though).necrotizing said:Any online sources for the value of one of these nib with black micarta scales?
Harry, AGR acutally had (at least) five different Spyderco Jess Horn exclusives. There are two "full size" C34 versions in PE, a white micarta and a burgundy micarta. Both have full flat ground blades that have a swedge grind like the standard C34. There are also three smaller "Baby" Jess Horns, for which no comparable model was ever maketed directly by Spyderco. These came in black micarta and all stainless steel, both with grinds like the standard Spyderco C34, and in white micarta, with a full flat ground blade with swedge grind. All the AGR Specials that I have ever seen are plain edge.Harry Callahan said:AG Russell had two different Jess Horn Spydercos as exclusives. One, as you mentioned, was white micarta. One was stainless steel scales and smaller. Both had flat saber grinds instead of the factory hollow saber grinds. Collector interest in these AG Russell versions is starting to fly off the charts and will only climb further. The best we can hope for is a re-issue in ZDP-189 blade steel or something. Originals are not readily available. Not even the "run-of-the-mill" production models. Too bad. They were slim and carryable. Jess Horn basically took a shovel pass from Sal and ran it 90 yards for a playoff touchdown. Good stuff.
Anyhoo, no burgundy micarta Horns were produced that I'm aware of.
