Hey guys,
I'm looking to try my hand at rescaling a Mikov using a Burl Wood scale slab.
Anyone want to kick in some helpful hints, links to sites, etc;....sure would be appreciated. Thanks

I have used Mikov kits and scaled them in horn, MOP, Italian ink pen plastic material (waterfall) and burlwood. I also suggest you get from Knifekits.com the screw pivot pins, and assorted torx screws in 2-56 and 1-40 to replace the hard pins. This makes it a lot easier "tuning" the action.
The original Mikov's had a bit of flexing in the handle when operated so brittle scale material should be reinforced with a liner. My MOP was thin enough to use an aluminum liner. The newer Mikovs are thicker with less flex.
The other choice you have is to cover the side release spring that goes half way down the handle. If the scale material is thick enough, you can cover the spring.
While you are re-scaling, consider doing some file work also.
I picked up what I needed to know on my projects by searching the forum for screws, MOP, Mikov, etc.
Just remember to not be in a hurry and have fun with it.

....as a matter of fact Bill, I have come across that tutorial since posting here. That really helped....Thanks again guys!
