I'm thinking of getting either one as a paddling/safety/sheeple/police friendly knife? Which one would you pick and why? I would go the rescue route hands down but I wish it weren't in blue. I much prefer black or even fire-engine red (like red cross). The Assist is attractive because of the cobrahood and the wavy grips - but I don't like the choil area (I think it looks a little odd). Both blade shapes appeal to me....

help...

You can still order the Rescue full-size in black FRN. Only difference is that the blade is fully serrated, not with the blue version's last inch of plain-edge.

I have both the 93mm Rescue and the Assist. Both are nice, but have very different attributes. The Rescue is much like many other clipits in terms of profile/carry, while the Assist has much thicker scales and seems well suited to manipulation with heavy gloves. The Assist would not ride as inconspicuously in a pocket as the Rescue series (probably not designed to, either).

Keep in mind that the Assist 2 isn't as "safe" a safety knife. It has a wharncliffe point, and it will penetrate effortlessly, unlike the Rescue's sheepsfoot. If you want "safety," then the Assist 1 is a better choice.

The Assist 2 is more comparable to something like Emerson's PSARK.

My preference for a sheeple-friendly presentation is the blue 93mm Rescue with shiny pocket clip. It says "Tool" much more than "Tactical" IMO.

I have both and the 93mm would be my choice between the two for paddling. Slimmer profile will mount better on a PFD and stay out of the way.

I just cannot remember, which Assist has the glassbreaker, the Assist I or Assist II ? And is it available yet?

If You want this sheeple-friendly knife, how about the Rescue jr. in orange? The bright orange handles are just amazing, especially with the polished clip. I mean, my mother-in-law carries one when on vacation, and she´s over sixty years old!
