i think the best work horse of spyderco is the rescue 93mm in my mind. This knife has a job and it does it and one hell of a lot more. Its a EDC for me has been and will always be.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).

Cool. I would like to try one out but there is no dealer in my area (is it a discontinued model?). I have to buy it to try it.
May not have happened yet, but Spyderco announced last November that the 93mm Rescue was being discontinued and replaced by the Rescue III which will have steel liners and a 3 screw clip with 4 way clip mounting options. Blade shape has reportedly changed a bit as well, although I can't really see much difference in the catalog picture. Lots of dealers probably still have the 93mm Rescue in stock, some may be even discounting them a bit more as closeouts. Lack of local Spyderco dealers is a common problem. Know I've never lived near one, at least not one that carried an even halfway decent selection. It is not discontinued, but you can also try the Atlantic Salt f you want to. It is also a great and very similar knife.

I am having difficulty trying to decide between a Rescue and an Assist. Anyone have any thoughts on one vs the other?
Thanks,
JD
Assist is an interesting knife but, in addition to being bulky, the "safety" tip limits its usefulness for anything other than rescue use and can even be a hindrance there if something needs to be penetrated rather than sliced.
