I've looked at Spyderco and Benchmade but could not find a rescue folder with a 3" blade. I have a Kershaw Funxion EMT but want a folder that doesn't have a sharp tip and is not assisted opening. A sheepsfoot blade would be ideal.

Here are the list of requirements:

  • Folder (manual opening)
  • 3 inch blade with partial serrations and no pointed sharp tip
  • Carbide glass breaker

So far, I have only found one.

Fox Knives FX-214 E.R.T. Rescue Knife:

  • Blade material: stainless steel N690Co (HRC 58-60) stonewashed
  • Blade length: 2.95"
  • Blade thickness: 0.19"
  • Overall length: 7.87"
  • Weight: 5.46 oz.
  • Handle: FRN > orange + rubber glow in the dark
  • Clip: stainless steel 420J2B
  • Sheath: FRN > NYLON reinforced fiberglass

Eickhorn has many rescue knives. Check their site out. I don't know if the glass breaker is carbide though.

Thanks. The Eickhorn PRT-IV Pocket Rescue Tool looks interesting with seemingly a 3" blade (Bohler N695) and rounded tip. Have to make inquiries.

I have one of those Benchmade 30200 in the car but need something with a true serrated blade.

PS: I'd edit the dealer since they're not BF approved.

I made inquiries to Eickhorn of Solingen, Germany. They have a whole section for Rescue Tools.

The PRT-IV with thumb disc is their safe / rounded tip blade for U.S. markets.

They double-checked and the Böhler N695 stainless steel serrated blade is 3 inches long (0.1" thick). There's also a carbide glass breaker, a dedicated seat-belt cutter with replaceable blades and weighs 4.6 ounces.

Problem is that no U.S. dealer has them in stock and the shipping cost from Germany is a steep 60.00 €! The knife is 75.00 €.

I ordered a Fox Knives FX-214 E.R.T. Rescue Knife from ExtremAddiction and although he doesn't carry it he ordered one for me and said he'll start carrying it. About $110. Will post a mini review and pictures soon.

Ramzar, try contacting www.heinnie.com, their prices are reasonable (by European standards) and their international shipping is cheap. What they dont have, they can procure if you send them a email.

EDIT: Didnt notice you bought one.

Here's my new Fox Knives FX-214 E.R.T. Rescue Knife which I got from ExtremAddiction for $108 delivered and he also carries the black finish with pointed tip for slightly more.

It's amazing in person. Nice thick blade with safe rounded tip. The glow in dark material is also on the top of the handle. It flips great unlike any other Fox I've had. The flipper is also a flat head screw drive and on the opposite a Phillips. Also a bottle opener and nice pointy carbide glass breaker. Very smooth. The blade is so thick that it makes for a great prybar. Very well and solidly built. The holster/sheath is really a great bonus with with both Tek-Lock and Molle-Lock!

It weighs 5.81 ounces. The blade is 3.1" long and 0.195" thick. The handle is 4.86" long (included the round glow rubber).
