I just got back from an auto extrication demo, and one of the instructors had a really neat tool. It was a rescue hook that had a window breaker on the end (it wasn't the usual window punch though, it had like 3 little prongs). The tool looked allot like the benchmade 8 inch rescue hook, but it had this window breaker on the bottom. The guy said it was made by kershaw, but i cant seem to find it. Can anybody identify this tool for me?

there's the Lifehammer ResQme, with a rescue hook and a window breaker
it's very light, I have one with my car keys.

I still cant seem to find this thing. Like it said it looks allot like the benchmade. It also had a little nylon case that the front slipped into so you could use the glass breaker without taking the hole thing out. Still no one can identify this tool?

I bought several rescue hammers with seat belt cutters from some big outfit in the Smoky Mountains for $4 a piece. They're very serviceable.

It may have been the Lifehammer ResQme. I keep mine zip tied to the center console. This way if I get it to an accident it (hopefully) won't go flying out of reach.

They sell things that look just like the ResQme at the dollar store, from the look of the ones in the link I'd say they were the same thing. I've seen name brand companies sell made in China gear with their name on it, only to see the same noname item at the dollar store in the same package but with different text.

Sooooo....are anyone testing these ResQme before they recommend these? Where are the facts?

The traditional spring loaded ones that look like an ice pick do work (we used them in St. John's Ambulance Brigade here in Canada) and cost the same or less than the ResQme; I'd then buy a belt cutter with quality steel.

I would go with the brand name company in this case. The ResQme does not cost you much more. Why get a cheap imitation that you may need to save your, or anthers life? Essentially when you are only saving literally a few dollars.

That's it! I got to see one of those in use in an auto extrication demo for our dept. Thanks for finding it for me
