i'm looking for a serrated knife to carry in my edc along with my plain. i'm looking at the blue rescue or the atlantic. i like the fact that the rescue has the plain edge at the beginning but i will be carrying a plain anyway. but i also want to give h1 a try. just can't decide. anyone have either or both of these and recommend one over the other?

thank you,
nick

I have the Atlantic and love it. I carry it along with a plain just like you were thinking of doing. Personally, I would rather have the Atlantic as H1 is amazing stuff, serrated its already got a pretty good work harden and it will never rust.

I've had my Atlantic Salt for about 14 days now and I love it.

Its already made 8-10 trips in the hot tub/pool. The jimping on the spine really keeps your thumb locked in place and the blade has kept a good edge so far.

Aside from the steel, the clip material, and the available edges and colors, the two knives are exactly the same. If you are also carrying a plain edged knife, I'd say buy the serrated Atlantic and give H-1 a try.

If you're going for edge retention, I'd say Rescue. If you want to try H1, go for the Atlantic.

I prefer the yellow handle on the Salts. :)

I have a couple of serrated H1 Salts (a Tasman and a yellow Salt 1) and IMO the serrated H1 holds an edge about as well as a serrated VG-10 blade. Even my PE Pacific and black Salt 1 hold a pretty good edge). In your position, I would try the Atlantic Salt.

I have experienced serrated H1 holding an edge longer than serrated VG-10. Plain edge in both steels has been about equal for me with edge retention. Either way, you are getting an excellent cutting tool!

I have both and have had them for a long time. I carry the Atlantic 99.9% of the time. The serrated H1 cuts forever and well, the elements don't bother it. It's good to go!!!

i got the atlantic and it's great. but this thing is blood thirsty, i've cut myself with it twice in one day so far. i rarely cut myself so this is a little strange. but i also stalled my 944 today (first time in the year i've had it), so maybe things are just a little off for me right now.
