As I strolled through our now depressing SAXET Gunshow, I was hoping to find a hidden treasure like I did last time: A Desert Dagger S25, perfect except the very tip, sheath looked unused, $150, I got it for $125. So, today I saw an old SEKI Northwest Ranger, beat up, too expensive, pass. I saw a SEKI Seal Pup and Mini Pentagon, same guy I got the dagger from last time. Didn't bother for a price, didn't want either one. I saw a nice counterfeit Cold Steel Magnum Tanto. The people selling it were too proud to accept it was a fake. I know its not a SOG, but it was a funny part of my day. At a table not far from it, I saw a SEAL 2000 with a lot of the powdercoat missing...pass, then a few knives down is this Tech 1. FINALLY!! A diamond in the rough!! Then I picked it up and saw the scratches from hell. The price tag said $125, I ended up walking away with it for $100. I had to argue with the guy telling him someone defaced a piece of art.

The scratches are not deep, you can barely feel them. I wish I could find the person that did this and ask them WTF they were thinking!! Get this, the edge is nice and still factory sharp!! The original grain is still there!! They were scratching the crap out of the side of the knife and not even touching the actual cutting edge!! MORON!!! The sheath looks surprisingly good. Its the original nylon version with EDM. WA written on it. The little leg tie is still there too.

If anyone has any tips on touching up this blade, I am all ears. The back of the blade is even worse, but my stupid camera decided that "blur" mode was in order so I didn't post it.

You did great on that tech for 100$.. I bet if u send it to someone who knows what they are doing and say 20-40$ that can make the blade look good.. Its worth the experiment anyways..

See if u can find a local knife maker in your area.. I did and he has done some pretty neat stuff.. good luck

Good snag! I got a used on from that same era years ago in trade. Sold it last year to help pay for moving expences. Carried it on a few campouts and plenty of hikes. Wore it to Zion National Park in a custom leather sheath and no one ever had a problem with it. Use it!!

Did sog use silver does on the gaurd?? I have 2 of these and it looks like it but not sure. they got something in there and it does not look like that PASTE that al mar us to use.. I LOVE AL MARS but had that white paste

From what I can remember, SOG used to solder their metal cross guards. Nice score! I have an Edm WA Tech II and I baby that beauty!

Hahahaha, "use marks". Or my favorite, "handling marks". How about "tied to the back of my son's big wheel and dragged across the pavement marks". By the look of the edge, this knife was never used as a knife.
