Just won this Buck 709 Yearling for a grand old $3.29. Have a look do you know how I can take care of the rust on the pivot of the pen blade side?

I have yet to receive her but I'm hoping she's a good one. Looking to get the little Yearling into a user rotation.

The whole knife doesn't get dunked in mineral oil correct?

wouldnt hurt it if ya did, personally i use hot tap water and dish soap, flush out the knife, work the action a bunch, dry it completely, oil the joints and work them, light coat of oil on the blades. if ya got light rust you can use 0000 steel wool and mineral oil to get rid of it.
Clean it, Put it in your rotation and use it
Nice knife BTW, given the price and the shape it was a steal!

But probably couldn't get the rust out of the pivot area if there is any. I'd put some real powerful rust preventative right there once you're done working the joints. Other than that you'd just need to polish the hardware, scotchbrite the blade, and sharpen the edge:thumbup:.
