Reshaping Chef's Knife Blade (story inside)

Hey folks...have the full set of the Henckels Pro S kitchen cutlery...the tip of the chef's knife snapped off (how, I don't know...), and I was wondering if a good cutlery sharpening place can recurve the blade and grind the blade...what I'm imagining is kind of hard to put into words, but I figure they might be able to reshape the blade a little bit and I'll now have a 7 3'4" chef's knife ;) I just really don't want to have to buy a new one, as they're not cheap, and the set was a wedding gift (approaching $1,000), so it carries some sentimental value.

Thanks!

How much of the tip broke off? That will determine what could be done with it.

thx - cpr

Not a problem. My first Henckels knives were purchased at a place that handled 'seconds'. These knives had damage and we picked those that had the least damage and I reground them so you'd never know .It didn't take long to do with a grinding wheel then sharpening stones.

Got it resharpened by Jeff Roy of Holeb Outdoors outside of Boston, MA, and it came out amazing...he's also a custom knife maker, so I thought I'd give his company a shout-out, so make sure to check out www.holeboutdoors.com
