Does anybody have any good ideas on how to modify kraton, ect. type plastic/rubber handles (ex. Kershaw Outcast). I have tried sandpaper and dremel bits but all leave a rough texture (which is what I am trying to nullify in most cases), and I am not sure about using heat (heat gun, torch, lighter) as I do not want to destroy the handle just make them more suited to me. Any ideas will help.
Thanks

I don't know about Kraton, but when I was making golf clubs for friends I used a light rubbing with acetone on the plastic (?) ferules after grinding them to size. The acetone dissolved the plastic just enough to give it a very smooth and shiny surface.

If you are not familiar with ferrules, they are a decorative plastic cone that is found where the shaft of the club enters the club head.

Just a thought. I would try it in a test area first.

hmmmmm.sorry, but kraton is rubber, and if you try to "heat" it and remold it, it wont work. acetone, or other solvents may soften it, but still will not give the desired effect and will only help it decompose. Your better off just making a new handle.

The only thing you may do is use a razor balde, or exacto knife to cut pieces off, other than that you may just need a new handle.
