Resin Attached with Wood Handle

Hey all! I'm a complete noob when it comes to knives and have recently been looking into creating knife handles. I came across one specific knife handle that I loved, made of wood and a hand-mixed plastic resin.

My question is, how are these two materials attached? Would epoxy work on connecting wood and a plastic resin?

If this is a stupid question, I do apologize in advance! Any help would be appreciated!

The full tang gives the structure and if I'd make it I'd attach the pieces together with epoxy first.
Join the two pieces, then sand the bottom flat with sandpaper on a piece of glass/marble/granite/etc

Thanks Hengelo_77! So what you're saying is that the wood and the resin can be attached together as one piece using epoxy? And then that can be joined to the blade?
