Where is everybody getting their resin cast burl blocks? I figured like everything else there are major differences in quality and I have zero experience with them. I’ll be using it on a butchering knife if that helps. Thanks.

Many knife suppliers sell them as well as Woodcraft. I think Masecraft does, too.

All cast resin blocks break. Acrylic is very soft and brittle.

FIF is the absolute worst example for proper technique and procedures. Things break and such on the show due to using the wrong equipment and rushing things. They deliberately place materials that are absolutely doomed to fail. They use pretty material to bait people into using them. The really funny part is there is no credit for a pretty handle. They should stock the pantry with micarta, G-10, and solid blocks of stabilized and natural woods ... but where would be the drama in that.

I think the OP is looking for this. It is acrylic and similar resins cast into the voids of burl caps and heavily cracked burl.:

That’s what I’m referring to. They truly are beautiful but if it means a high likelihood of redoing a handle down the road I’m going to pass unless it’s specifically asked for.
