Just curious if anyone has had any problems with the Resiprene-C handles in the Rats (or any other Busse related blade) absorbing any odors?

I know this material is supposed to be really resistant to chemicals and liquids, but how is it with respect to odors?

The reason I ask is that I have one Rat where the handle smells like cigarette smoke, and I can't get rid of it with anything. No others I have handled have had this problem. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!!!

I have a Gen. 2 HR and have never noticed any odors absorbing into the grips.

Anyone else? I'm really curious. I've tried alcohol, WD-40, Lysol, and scrubbing with hot water and dish soap to no avail.

HELP!

I don't really believe in the whole ionic freshener thing, but if you have an ionic blow dryer or air cleaner you could try those.
One other thing that REALLY absorbs odors is activated carbon. Don't buy cheap charcoal air freshener. It won't work nearly as well. Spend a few bucks and go to your pet store in the aquarium section and buy something like this:

Put it in a sealed jar for a few days.

Have you tried spraying the handle with febreeze? I don't know if will work or not, but Febreeze is supposed to neutralize odors.....

I have a Camp Tramp that still smells a little like smoke......I have had it about 4 months.

I tried to smoke my Camp Tramp once but didn't enjoy it.... the headache lasted about 4 months.

Coincidence?! Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I don't know if this would work or not for Res-C, but I have read multiple times where this mixture is very good at removing odors.
AND I saw an episode of Mythbusters where they were trying to rid skunk odor.
Tomato juice did work, but left a strong tomato smell.

The guys from Mythbusters seemed to believe the following worked better:

hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and dishwashing liquid.

I have tried the above mixture in my disposal once and it worked pretty well.

Aside from that, I highly recommend not smoking! ;)

.

OK, I'll try a few more of the recommendations. I'll be by a pet store later, so if the febreeze or peroxide doesn't work, I'll give the activated charcoal a try.

Paddler, Camp Tramps are not meant for smoking, just passing around!!! :p

Look for the individual packets designed to go with the Aquaclear filters. Both relatively cheap (since you only get one small packet) and effective.

Chef tricks for odors on hands:

salt + water

or

coffee grounds, water

or

lemon juice

or
