Hello,

For some background, My Dad does woodworking, metalworking, masonry, etc, but he doesn't have a respirator. What his version of a respirator is is a box of dust masks he found in my grandma's shed from 98, and he only puts one strap on, AND he has a beard:mad:. So, I was wondering what you guys think about the Resp-o-rator, and is it compatible with normal respirator pancake filters, and where to buy it. Sorry to bombard you with questions, but I would rather ask the experts then Google it.

I am not familiar with the Resp O Rator, sorry. You might get a better response if you move this to the knifemaker's forum section. You can click on the triangle on the lower left of your post and ask a moderator to move this there.

I've got one that I've used to do some woodworking, but I've never bought filters for it, so I can't help with that question. Seemed to work okay, though I got occasional drool drips from the valve on the front until I got used to how to hold my mouth around the mouthpiece.

I have been using the resp-o-rator for 5-6 months now or so. I love it. The guy that came up with the resp-o-rator is a genius. I have never spoke to him, but every time i start sanding or grinding on wood or steel i silently thank that man... I would "forget" to wear other types of masks or would stop working after 10-15 minutes as i just hated to wear them, uncomfortable and they didnt seal well with my beard... Id have to tighten them so much it hurt to try and get a proper fit... But i have no problems wearing this one for HOURS at a time, it doesnt need ANY seal, and i can wear a full face shield or even a welding mask if i needed to on top of it. Full of win.

Now some might not care for the "mouth" breathing. But i have had NO issues with it at all. Well except the occasional drool HAHA

I love mine! I have a beard and wear glasses. I hate regular respirators as they are a pain to put on and take off and tend to fog my glasses. The Resp-o-rator just hangs around my neck when not in use, discharges downward so no fogged glasses. There was a slight issue with drool until I figured out how to hold the mouth piece in my mouth, but no biggie. The filters are not a standard item, I got mine from duckworks boat building supply. I have not heard of anyone that tried one that has not liked it.
