Our archery season opened up last Saturday. I was fortunate enough to bag a nice doe despite the high temps. After a 300 yard track, me and my Professional Soldier went to work. Attached are some non gory - but bloody pics. I have had this knife for maybe three or four years now and I just keep going back to it. It's not the best wood crafting blade (although it works in a pinch), but it does everything else I have asked it to do - from opening doors to processing and butchering deer (this is the second, the first was dispatched with this blade after a mediocre shot). I love my Professional Soldier.

Well done Mr. Reeve

I'm sure the Nyala will be a better fit for hunting and I will be in the market for one soon. I love these knives and am totally bummed I didn't pick up one of the One Piece knives while I could. Would give my left one for the right one!

You're right, it's a spiffy blade. Damn sure not good for wood work but will work in a pinch like you said.

The nyala does look great too, Ill get one of those soon too.

And yeah bro, not trying to rub it in, but you did miss out with the one piecers, talking bout nice. I was only able to score two though.

Nice pics, btw.

I love the PS. It's a great little knife for what it is. I did a review on it when I got mine ( found in the CRK timeline sticky ). I like it just as much now as then. I agree that the Nyala would be great as well. Was always gonna get one, just haven't yet. I like to try different knives from time to time. The Sable IV worked very well. I then went to the Ubejane and its been my favorite for years. I field dressed and skinned 3 whitetails before it needed sharpened during one hunting season.

Back to the PS though, I wrapped the factory lanyard as seen in my review and it makes it more comfortable for camp use, plus it does not interfere with the kydex sheath.

I sharpen all my knives with the old mouse pad wet/dry sandpaper up to 1200 grit. Gotta say that this little baby hasn't been sharpened in maybe six months and did a number on that doe. No issues and it's jut as sharp as it was when I started. It is my opinion that this knife is the sleeper of the knife world. Everyone should own one. Now, if only CRK would offer up some micarta scales for those of us without shackles!

I like the pro soldier as well, but I have a hard time with it only being between 55-57 hardness, its a bit soft for prolong hard work. Love the Nyala tho cause it bumps up to 58-59 it holds a nice edge alot longer imo.

All I can say that after cleaning and butchering many deer with doziers, customs an this CRK, it held an edge as well as any of my doziers through the process. Anyone who has processed their own deer knows how hard it is on the toughest edge. While it won't hold an edge as long as Bob's D2, it managed to butcher one entire deer without a touch up. RC is understood, all I can speak to is my own personal experience. I'm sure the Nyala is an equal performer if not better.

I have to laugh when people frown on a particular knife that is 1 or 2 degrees off in the HT.....LOL.

I really liked the one pieces, Nyala and GB I've seen. I would like to see a bushcraft blade from CRK though. Wish I had that GB, Aviator and Nyala back ;).

The OPR Mountaineer II is about as close as your going to get to a traditional bushcraft knife.
