Restoration info needed for old straight razors

A friend gave me a box of 30-40 straight razors. They're very old and most of them are rusted with horn or bone handles. One is yellow and cracked and looks to me as if its ivory. These sat in a backyard shed and were the collection of someone who checked out of life after he returned from Vietnam. 40 years outside plus or minus a few years. How do I go about removing the rust from the blades such that I do not ruin them. I apologize if I missed a topic devoted to this subject, I looked and came up empty on this topic. All thoughts are welcome.

Hard to explain SR restoration without being there.
But this series of videos does an excellent job.

First off, there is a razor/scissor area of this site, some info there. Other great sites for this specific infomation are Badger and Blade, or Straight Razor Place.

I restore/modify/make razors, have done a bunch. The first this to do is determine which ones are even worth saving.

If you can get pictures of them and put them up somewhere, we can help you decide which ones to focus on. Deep pitting rust almost always kills a blade. But, I have seen some brought back from the brink. Are you looking to bring these back to shave ready condition or just to preserve them? Preserving is easy, shave ready is more work involved.

But, for large amount of rust removal, look into electrolytic rust removal. Its essentially reverse plating of rust.

If you have any half way decent ones (like one that you don't mind parting with) I'd be interested. I've been wanting an SR project for a long time.

Sorry for vulturizing your thread. :o
