Sorry folks, if this is the wrong place to post this. Didn't know exactly where to post.
I recently received a Kukri - didn't get many details with it, but it's apparently indian and made of the best steel I've ever seen. Holds an edge incredibly well, cuts through pretty much anything, I'm really impressed.
But... the sheath was in fairly bad shape - some of the leather was cracking and peeling and it's only gotten worse in the last few weeks.
The inside of the sheath appears to be some kind of very lightweight wood and the leather is pretty thin. The tip is the usual brass.
Any advice on ressurecting the sheath? I could use duct tape or something, but it's a bit of a shame to ruin it that way. I'd also like to add belt straps to it, I've really never done anything like that though...
The wood / sheath also really smells, not exactly sure of what (sort of a eucalyptus smell) but it isn't unpleasant, just strong.
