Restoring a vintage German "White Hunter" with stabilized wood...

Hi all. I just posted another restoration video. This time it's a German-made Puma "White Hunter" that was a bit worn from years of use. The scales were cracked so I replaced them with a nice set of stabilized wood. Then I made a custom leather sheath with aluminum embellishment.

Buffing the blade scratches off regrettably removed the manufacturer marks, so I had to reapply those as well. Enjoy!

Thanks! I was playing around with making my own stabilized wood. I have a small Vacuum chamber.
But as usual I found the resin is too expensive. It's cheaper to just buy pre-stabilized pieces.

Very nice job!
Note to anyone attempting this: those Puma blades are plated with industrial hard chrome. If you polish the blade, you will have to sand/polish everything to get all the chrome off for the finish to look proper. Should you want to replated, search "Metalife."

Awesome video and restoration! I love WIP videos. That White Hunter looks gorgeous. Thank you for posting.

That's a great honor coming from you Bill. Thanks! I used to haunt the Talkblade forums much more frequently. Unfortunately, genuine traditional style automatics are near impossible to run across where I'm at.
Agreed; I found out about the chrome plating on the first White Hunter I cleaned up. Did they do this purely for rust prevention?

Yes-rust prevention.
The HC can be removed with muriatic acid, but the knife has to be completely disassembled.
