Restoring Finish on Wrought Iron

I have in the works a tanto inspired folder--damascus blade with stingray skin over african blackwood scales. I want to use a piece of wrought iron I have for the bolsters and the spacer which I plan to mill down to the desired thickness--can anyone tell me how to get the shiny milled surface of the wrought iron back to the original finish/patena--
