I wonder if anyone here has done this or if there's any one providing this service. I'm talking about restoring both the lockside and titanium scale of Rick Hinderer knives with a battle bronze finish. There are scratches on them.

Interested as well. I have one or two that have seen hard use. I'd like to restore them as well. Following!

No one can tell you unless we know what "battle bronze" is.

Bill, it’s Hinderer‘s „Working Finish“, bronze anodized. „Working Finish is a combination of finishes. First the parts are given a sand blasted finish. Then, they go over to the huge tumbler for a stonewashed finish.“

OP: I doubt anybody but RHK can recreate it. You could have it 3rd party sandblasted and anodized though.

On the Hinderer's it's referring to the the Ti frame and/or the Ti handle scales not the blade steel that has their "bronze battle finish" The blades get the same surface finish ... sand blasted or glass bead blasted etc. that gives the slightly different textures, but then the frames can be left plain or anodized.

I don't think it can be restored without starting from scratch and I've not heard of anyone doing it. And unless things have changed I don't think Rick offers spa treatments that go that in depth.

Nothing that gets used is going to stay pristine. Even if you could get the knives refinished, if you continue to use the knives, they're just going to get scratched all over again.

It's titanium, not high-carbon steel. So it's not like the scratches are going to rust. I assume the scratches are purely cosmetic.

Why deny your knives the character they've acquired from faithful service. Learn to appreciate the signs of use.

Just one mans opinion :) .

I ended up with first removing the ano with Whink and then re-anodizing the scale to a different color. I agree it is nearly impossible to re-create the RHK battle bronze finish.
