Restoring mirror finish

Once a blade has a fair amount of small scratches, what's the best way to restore the original, mirror finish?

Maybe a buffing compound? Buy villagers and not worry?

I'm sure somebody who knows what they are talking about and will chime in... I'm interested to know as well.

Right, I'm sure there are some compounds which work, but more than likely, it's a gradient of compounds and/or other abrasives. I'd like to see exactly what people have done that's worked (and not worked) so that I don't mess up my khuk...

Maybe if you posted a pic it would help. How deep are the scratches? I was removing some rust off of one of my lodge's old ceremonial swords and used a polished agent that was pretty mild. Got rid of a light of surface scratched that were not too deep.

To be honest, the scratches are so light that I can still see my reflection. I might try to get a picture, but am not sure I'd be able to. I'll have to look for some super-mild polishing solutions (maybe the type for Silver?) and work up as is necessary...

Give me a few minutes. I got a project khukuri from Yangu yesterday. I'll use some of the polishing compound on it and post pics. I am going to use Mr. Metal, it is designed for silver, brass and other metals... pretty mild.

I need natural light for pictures, will try tomorrow.

Most any metal polishing compound will do. Simichrome, Flitz, Noxon, Maas, Wenol etc. Chrome polish for cars? You can also use a bench mounted buffer with green chrome polishing compound. But a buffer can throw a 2 lb khuk like a bullet, putting limbs at risk.
