Restoring my teapot

Knifemaking gurus, please pardon this diversion, but I wonder if I can ask your help. I bought a used teapot made of 18/8 stainless. I polished it up with Flitz, which made it shine, but also revealed a bunch of little scratches, some deep enough to catch your fingernail. I want to get rid of these. So I got out my Blades 'n' Stuff catalog and started reading about hand-rubbed finishing, but I've never done any of this.

I'd like to restore my teapot to its former, pristine glory. I have no machinery at my disposal; I'll be doing this by hand. Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hmm..
Shodar, there are a lot more people on this forum that are more expierianced than me but since they havn't got to you yet I'll try and help. Get you some wet-dry sandpaper from about 220 to 1000 grit, and a small pad of leather for backing the sandpaper. Go through the grits until the scratches are gone then apply the Flitz again for final polish.

Well Bob, you beat me to it. I was going to suggest wet/dry paper and elbow grease. Can't really hurt much if one takes it easy.

Get a soft pad and sic carbide sand paper and rub it . Start with a say 120 then 320 on up from there. You will have to rub the spot then rud the whloe pot to make it look good as you get to the grit it sanded to now
