I belong to a forum dedicated to old woodworking machinery. There are a surprising number of folks out there restoring and using some fine old machines.

There was a discussion about files and several of the guys mentioned a company that sharpens old files. They all had good things to say about these folks.

I have not used the service, and have no affiliation with the company. Just thought I'd pass it on as the guys on the woodworking site were all positive and they certainly put their tools to use.

Thats a good resource! I have a bunch of old 'Mercan files I haven't decided what to do with. For less than a few bucks a piece to resharpen, sounds like I might give it a shot. I thought the only good way to resharpen files was an acid etch. Seems pretty interesting.
