hi - recently got a catalog from the sportsmans guide, at www.sportsmansguide.com, and they have the usual run of the mill military surplus stuff, and noticed that they had some CRKT M16 knives for sale - was checking out the price, etc and noticed restricted shipping item, (1)(13) see page 22 - so i went to pg 22, and found the following - some items have restricted shipping, #1 was you must be 18, not a felon(?) nor drug dependant, adult signature upon delivery, etc - well i can live w/that, but #13 blew my mind - cannot be shipped to DE,TX, puerto rico, or us virgin islands - why in the hell couldnt they ship to tx?? surely it must be co. policy, but why would they say that??? makes no sense to me.......

Might be a misprint or typo.
Have you thought about emailing them and asking?

Unfortunately, with the complexity and irrationality of the knife laws around the country, I wouldn't be surprised if some shippers got confused. The last thing they need is trouble with some dumb politician. So, when in doubt restrict. Give them a call, they may be glad to open up a whole new area for marketing!

yeah, you know i think i will em them - its not a miss print i dont think, its like a big chart, about 30 or 40 categories - will post what they say about it.....just thought it strange

they actually state that they won't ship to junkies? weird... are they gonna ask for a pee sample to see if you're "drug dependent"?
heh.

I live in Texas and emailed Sportsman's Guide about restricted shipping to TX. I got a canned reply about conforming to state knife laws. I would post a copy but the lack of adequate response pissed me off and I trashed their email.

I order knives from all over the US and never have a problem with resricted shipping from anyone but Sportsman's Guide.

My guess is they got nailed for shipping a double edged knife to San Antonio, where they are illegal or something similar.

Anybody out there from Sportsman's Guide want to address this?

Seriously Man, don't give them any ideas, things are bad enough as it is.

Just joking, well...not really...might have a background check and waiting period for knives soon.

So some poor Chronic pain, needs meds for quality of life, under Doctor's care can carry a Howitzer, can carry CCW, but cannot buy a knife from Sportsman.com? I may be a newbie, but how do you pee thru your keyboard? Texas law on the shipping (they call EXPORTATION ?)is beyond me as Mexicans cross the border every day bring Dope and garbage guns, BUT Texas will not allow knives into their wonderful LOW crime State?
Ok so I am a newbie knifeknut-ette, even I find this beyond stupidity. Hey GW, wanna do a line with Barb and Jenna?.....wolf
