Why are all of the SE Rescue knives pinned and not Torx? I know that there are plenty of others pinned as well. Has anybody ever had a problem with a pinned knife? Like them loosening up, blade play, or slop? If it did happen, woudld Spyderco make good on it? Just curious guys. Thanks for the info.

Pinned knives have a shorter lifespan because you can't service parts if something goes wrong. I carried pinned rescues by spyderco for a decade before I thought there was enough side-to-side play to get another. I don't think they'll warranty on blade play alone because it will develop play over time no matter how nice you are to the knife. Some of the newer rescues are screw together and some even have liners now.

Never had a problem with a pinned or riveted knife. I'm also fairly certain the newest runs of the C14 and C45 Rescue, as well as the Atlantic and Saver Salt, are screw construction.

My D3 that has been a 365-day EDC since the mid-1990s says service life is not really an issue for these knives. :D

There's no screws to fall out when you need it the most. In my opinion the less that can go wrong the better. How ever dual liners would be a welcomed addition. I wish they had not changed the blade style after '94 I love the pointer finger shelf it had.
