Results from forging demo at Blade West......

For the third straight year I've had the privilege of doing the forging demo at Blade West. I didn't think of taking a photo of the blade after it was forged so this photo will have to do. I did the largest blade I could using my little stove pipe forge. The blade is 1084, 10 1/4" long. Used an elk tapper for the handle that I also dyed. The guard was one that I already had so I just had to do a little file work to make it fit. Its also has a wrought iron butt cap. 15" overall and weighs 16oz.

Well, while I think Ray's a great guy, and a talented smith... I'm not sure he's reached "God" staus yet!!!

However, that one turned out pretty well Ray.. Usually not into that particular style, but I think the S-guard and overall lines on that one really makes the whole piece stand out! :thumbup:

And it was great seeing ya at the show again - I had a blast, even if my straight lines didn't help your demo any! LOL!!!!

Joe, I think the lines would have worked better with last years crowd. It was good to see you again. Hope your trip back to Seattle went better than heading south.

A friend of mine sent me a CD from the show. Here's a few photo's from the demo......

Very beginning, just starting to feed Godzilla.

This is probably about 40 minutes later. I had just finished up hammering with the cross peen and starting to true the profile up before hammering with the face of the hammer.

Just about finished now. Truing things up and about out of time for my 1 hour demo.
