Hey there,
I bought some "trashed" balisongs in random lots of knives. One was a Valor 526. Just like the Samauri Warrior, except black. The other was a Taylor Seto Manila Folder, with wood inserts, but only on one side.

I took a stag antler and after a few swipes on my wet saw, and a little filing, I gave them new life.

Here's the "before" pictures:

and here's my rehandle jobs:

so there you have it... I really need to get a digital camera, huh...

well, what do you think?

Well you did a great job of bringing those balis back to life.

salesmans sample?

It's not marked as such, why do you think that?

also I was wondering what adhesive to use. I had originally thought of 2 ton epoxy, but I have had problems with that being too brittle. bali handles are getting slammed together, dropped, etc. When I cleaned the red adhesive that was left on the manila folder, I noticed that it was kinda gummy. the closest thing that I could find that would have some give in all directions while still holding on was shoe goo!!I guess I'll see how they hold in there.

now I can work the manila folder like the old "color changing knife" magic trick....

Bet clay doesn't have that technique on his site.

also, I'm not sure if I like how the Valor turned out. the scales dont match as nicely as the job I did on the Taylor. I might re-change them out with some other material. I have some really dark green jade that might look cooler.

I also bought one that hasn't come yet...
Ebay pulled the auction so quick that I got an unbelievable price on it when the seller wrote back...$3.00 I'm not sure of the maker, and I haven't seen many out there. It says "MANDARIN" on the blade. Any help?

Here's a link to the knives I just bought.

any help identifying it?

He was just joking about it being a salesman's sample since it has 2 different types of inserts:

On BM's salesmans samples they were designed with one type of insert on one side and a different type on the other side of the handles so you could see what they looked like.

cool, thank's for the input...

I just posted some pics of a Boker 707 that I re-did. that was my first project since the knife got too cold, the inserts froze and popped out.

Just index that galery.
