hi, all.
i am just curious about factory edge , tell me you experience .thanks:D

INFI holds the edge longer than any other steel I have used. A2 is second, Ding!

The edge retention on INFI is second to no other steel that I've used... and I've used a lot. Although, SR101 is also very good and may give it a run for it's money on softer mediums.

i have found that my infi does better after a few lick on a crock stick. anyting ceramic, bottom of a coffe cup or crock pot. the factory edge is nice but, after the heat treat it need's a little love. sharpen it till the factory line's are gone. then beat it, sharpen, repeat till desired result is acheived. really most of mine always did better after a few sharping's.

+1
I noticed that, I personally do not like factory edges.

INFI has sick edge retention, I agree with A2 in my experience for second best...but I gotta say SR-101 easily Ties INFI for first.

I've seen alot of people on here that say SR-101 holds an edge a little longer than Infi.

Its very possible, I get tired before I can get either of them not to shave from a 2000 tape edge and even then I can't tell which took more abuse to get there. ;)

Chopped thru Hedge Apples and Black Locusts in a fence row.
they held up fine.. The hedge apple kinda stung my hands.
Busse choppin blades are the cats meow.
Smaller blades. My wife said , They are too thick.!! Will it
get the job done?
There ya go go. Women dont have Busse envy.!! We do.!! HA HA!!

I readily concur. SR101 is pretty amazing stuff, too!

If you are going to use it I would sharpen it matching the factory edge angles removing enough steel to make the grind lines go away then finish it up. Once that is done the edge will last pretty much forever from what I have seen.

After I sharpened my NMFBM and FFBM and polished the edges they stayed shaving sharp after a lot of chopping and batoning.

the factory edges are tough. Was choppin through beer cans last week w/ my SH (through the thick bottom and top) and it didnt even put a fricken bur in the edge. Im sold.

For the choppers the edge retention is really good.

As slicers though, even Jerry said, it doesn't shine as brightly.

At hunting base we skinned and processed nearly 100 deer and pigs. INFI blades had to be lightly sharpened partway through one animal. SR101 shined though as expected, I could get through two without resharpening.

There was a forged blade there, cant remember the maker :o But that thing was unreal. I never saw the guy sharpen it.
