I`ve been getting a lot of requests for Fire Kits, so I may be offering them again. I would need to raise the price to $50.00, and only offering ferro rods, because one of my handle material suppliers carries those. Do you guys think there would still be interest in them at that price?

Ferro rods themselves run about 10-15 bucks so really your charging 35 for a knife and a leather sheath. Sounds reasonable to me but I'm not interested. Right now I'm on a bit of a spending freeze.:(

I think it would still be reasonable, and you should price them at a level that makes it worth your time and then see if people want to buy them at that price. If all the people who want one at 40 don't want one at 50, too bad for them, and you're not out anything. So I say let the buyers decide.

I think $50 bucks is still a great deal. I am giving away the two kits I got for Christmas, so I may need one in the future.

I would be interested in one. I wanted to order one about the same time I seen you were going to stop making them. But I agree that you should price them so that they are worth the time and materials that you have in them.

Good deal to me, by the way I have another fire kit kinda idea. I'll draw it up soon and post it !

Here ya go John, sorry for the very rough drawing but I think you'll get the idea. I guess the slots on the fire-steel holder would be a little wider than on most sheaths so that it would work. Your belt then passes through both the slots in the fire-steel holder and also the knife sheath that is sat on top of it.You should then have a fire-steel holder that will work with any knife sheath.

Well worth 50 clams, Stomper.

I had kinda been looking at the original price being a kind of special offer for us regulars here.
Sort of a "thank you for shopping at stomp-mart" deal.

$50 is definitely a fair price for this kit, John - especially given the custom design options you offer.

All the best,

- Mike
