They use files that have been used so much they get worn out. Can you imagine how many other knives and tools that knife has touched and helped create in it's "lifetime"? Now it starts all over again. Reti knives are great for slicing watermelons.

Yep! File steel. They have a slightly higher carbon content to them and you can tell when sharpening or honing them. Those are great knives and edge retention is awesome. I have several. Grats Bandages!
