I just received a 15” reti off a recent DOTD and man is this thing light, sharp and quick in the hand. In fact it’s easily my lightest kuk, far lighter than even my 13” foxy.

I have a question though, what is the story with these? I had never seen one before so I bought it and it appears to be made of a file. Definitely the strangest one I own but I do like it.

When I want to pack a khuk but dont want to "pack a khuk", my 15" reti gets the nod. I cobbled together a little high and tight sheath and I dont notice the 13 oz at all. I went on a day hike with the family last spring and forgot I had it on. Ridiculously fast and sharp;)

Very light and fast! Great knives! Yes as Mr. Tall says they have high carbon and you can tell the difference after using it for a while. Its stiffer and holds an edge a lil longer than 5160 if heat treated correctly and all mine are. Thats a beauty right there Mr. fish! Grats!

The main downside to Retis is you do not want to use them on anything really heavy duty like heavy wood chopping. The steel is not as flexible as a normal kukri's 5160, since steel for files is meant for hardness, not shock absorption. So don't use them for high shock applications, but for other stuff they work great.

I will say I have not had any chips on the edge so use it what its made for. I chop small stuff with no problem but i wouldnt try chopping dry hardwood cores and such. They sure do make a heck of a good camp kitchen knife. Mine comes with me every time I sleep outside along with a good chopper.

Chopper?.....i.e. an AK Bowie/
Cobalt Special?

Reti's are more for slicing and dicing, and that goes for being used as a weapon as well.

Id definitely use the BAS or Ganga Ram for the chopping chores. Reti is great for cleaning fish too. I cleaned many o catfish with it.

Nice pic and post, thank you for sharing
