Hi folks!

I think is time to retire my 7-8 years old use Spyderco Tenacious.

He did the job, and well done.

My mainly tasks are paper cut, soft wood, rope, slicing and peel off fruit, leather cut... nothing to hard except for wood (but we never knows).

On my keychain I carry a Spyderco Grasshopper and in my pocket the old Tenacious. It has already lost profile but still can go to the war.

It's time to upgrade. I was wondering about a Military or a PM 2 or Recon 1 spear point or even a Ontario Rat 2 (thinner blades are easy to slice)

Maybe 2 edc?

I'm open to suggestions. Which one or which other do you recommends? Why?

Thanks.

Nothing beats a SAK for peeling off fruits so there you have your EDC #1.

For your EDC #2, lots of options there. Millie (if legal restriction is no an issue) and PM 2 are certainly top choices. Or if you prefer smaller ones, Delica 4 with ZDP-189 can't go wrong (this has been my EDC for the past 3 months). I'll skip Recon 1 and Rat 1/2 due to the steel unless you are looking at the newer versions with CTS-XHP or D2 (still I'd choose Millie/PM2 over them).

I would recommend a manix 2. I love mine. Good handle. Good lock. The blade is thin enough to slice but not too thin where you feel it might snap. The military is another good one. Its a lot larger than a tenacious, if that's what you're looking for then its a good option.

I'll second(third?) the PM2 option. Pretty much perfect for EDC. Slightly larger in length than the Tenacious, thicker as well, but it's not too big.

The compression lock is a beauty. My all time favorite locking mechanism. If you wanna go large and stick with the liner lock the Military would be a better option.

And just because I love mine I'd also suggest to look at a Manix 2 as well!

If that doesn't convert you to the Manix side, nothing will! Haha.

If you want to stick with Spyderco you might try the Native. For me it's the perfect size for EDC and it's a very well made knife with good steel CPM S35 VN. It is quite a bit pricier then the Tenacious tho.

I own a pm2 and love it I highly recommend it (if you can pick it up in cpm-s35vn or cpm-s110v but cpm-S30v is good to) I have s110v and it is a slight upgrade over 8cr13mov

If you like the tenacious you should check out the byrd raven 2. Roughly the same size as the tenacious, better handle (imo), better steel, and about the same price.

Another vote for the Manix II. Try the standard model with the flat ground S30V blade steel; it's a thicker blade stock with better steel, but it may challenge your sharpening skills at first. It's a little heavier than the Tenacious, but not so much that it's a deal breaker (my opinion, of course); stronger lock, slightly thicker blade.

If the blade length of a Rat 1 is legal in your area, I'd snag a Rat 1 in D2 + Spyderco Manix 2 in G10 (that combo is the same $ as a PM 2). Rat 2 + Manix 2 is my 2nd recommendation.

Rat 1 in D2 might be the best bang for the buck in the knife world imho and everyone should have one.

Get a Benchmade 555-1 Mini Grip.

CPM-20 steel, G-10, Axis Lock, Made in the good ol' USA...

If you are used to opening via the Spydie Hole, the Grip has you covered with a hole for muscle memory.

Broaden your horizons with another manufacturer or two.
