After 20 Years and a lot of miles this old Soldier is finally hanging up his uniform. I have served all over the world 1st duty station was Italy, then Ft Campbell Kentucky then Korea, Ft Bragg, Hawaii and finally Virginia mix in 4 trips to Afghanistan and 1 (15 month) Trip to Iraq and it has been a good run. Body is Tired but spirit still willing unfortunate circumstances in the family have caused my family and I to make this our check-out point from "Being All I Could Be". As I look back on my career pocketknives have been a huge part of it. I posted before how I have been a mechanic and Flight Engineer for my time in and a good knife has always been a necessity toted a tl-29 most of those years along with the full run of tactical stuff that wasn't any better that the traditionals just a lot more hype. I have always appreciated good knives going back to my Eagle Scout days and hunting with Dad and just generally being a woods bum as much as possible. Hopefully with my new career (whatever it may be) I will have even more time to share my love of traditional pocketknives with the Boy Scout Troop my son and I are involved with. Lotta rambling but this place feels like a friendly front porch where rambling is OK.

Welcome aboard Marty. I'm sure you'll enjoy your sit on this front porch. And lots of temptation and enabling thrown in for free. :)

Best of luck on your new career. It can be a tough change of gears but I'll keep fingers crossed that it goes well.

Will

Enjoy the change of scenery, you've earned it Marty!

Welcome to a very friendly front porch, Marty.

As a former army engineer, I know what you mean about the TL-29's. Our supply room handed them out like lollypops at the doctors office. A great knife. Congratulations on your 20!

Carl.

Thank you for your years of service on our behalf.

Marty, you don't have email/PM enable through the forum. Shoot me an email at dan [dot] cimbora @ gmail [dot] com

Marty,
Can't be said enough times, but THANK YOU for your service!
Enjoy your retirement. You could always start knife collecting with all that new found spare time!

A huge congrats to you Marty! And a hearty thanks and bear hug for your 20 years of service. A new chapter in life now begins. It'll be a big life adjustment but it's a fresh start on something new that lies ahead :)

Well done and congratulations, a massive life changing shift but you sound like you're coming down on the positive side of it. In my book you'll always be welcome on this porch. :)

Marty, congratulations on your retirement! Thank you for serving, and for the sacrifices you and your family made.

I agree, the TL-29 is a great knife. I'd rather have that in the field than any tactical I've owned.

Best wishes, JD

Thanks for your years of service. Welcome and I certainly think you'll find this to be a special place to hang out.
