Retiring an old warrior, and suggestion for storing leather sheath

For veterans day this year I decided to dig out my old Randall 15, get it fixed up, and retire it, as I no longer have a need to carry it. I got it around '88, and it has been around the world, including being with me on the Jump into Panama in '89 and in combat in Iraq. It needed the edge restored and sharpened. I sent it to Randall and just got it back from them. They had it back to me in about a week, and were amazing to deal with.

I do have the original leather sheath, but it is in rough shape.
Any suggestion on how to store the leather sheath so it does not deteriorate further?

I've used a good polishing/coating of my leather sheaths with Ren Wax and then put them in a ziplock bag. Should keep forever (at least that's what I've done with my 1965 Randall Model 1).

You got the best thing on the planet for leather. I use it on everything leather I own. A heat gun works wonders with it too. After you run in what you can, slather some more on and hit it with heat. Old leather really takes it in.

Adding another for Obenauf's! Great stuff. All my leather gets it- boots and sheaths. Works great. Brought back a pair of boots for another year or two of life.

P.S.- Great history on the knife. That's one to hand down to the kids, stories included.
