Retiring my Q

I've been carrying a Q (serrated, of course). Love everything about the knife, except maybe the clip -- it's come off a couple of times -- but I'm thinking I'd like to go back to something with a conventional edge. The Michael Walker Lightweight seems to be what I'm looking for: blade no more than 2.5 inches, one hand opening and closing, lightweight, and available for under $50.

So, what do you think? Is this a good choice for me? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

The LT Michael Walker is a nice little knife, but the liner lock is very easy to disengage. If ya keep it in mind, you shouldn't have any problems.

The Walker ltwt. would be a good choice, as it feels really good in the hand. Another really good model would be the Dragonfly ltwt., as it's a very useful smaller knife with a 2 1/8" blade. If you want to keep it light and reasonably priced, and you don't mind a bit larger knife, go for a Delica '98 (2 7/8" blade) or a Jess Horn ltwt.(3 1/8" blade). I have an extra Delica '98 for sale with a plain edge in the "Knives for sale/trade by individual" forum, if you're interested.

Take care,
Chad

Honey, I swear that's the last knife I'm going to buy...

I just got my MWL this week and love its palmsized feel and ample blade size.

My liner lock has a loud and distinct clack on engaging, and as Blades noted, the liner is very accessible and hence easy to disengage.

Also, in its closed position, the end of the blade spine protrudes about 1/8" above the handle and presents a sharp corner.

Other than that, it has great ergonomics, plus the clip is integral.

I also have the Dragonfly.. another good knife if you want something even smaller. Both are one-handed open and close, tho the MWL is somewhat easier, being a liner lock... and fits in my hand better (something that will vary with handsize).

Just wanted to take a moment and thank those of you that replied for your insight and advice.

Unfortunately, the Delica '98 won't work for me -- 2.5 inches is an absolute limit, because of my job. I've thought about the Dragonfly, and no doubt I'll be finding an excuse to buy one some day. Right now tho' I'm kind of fixated on liner locks; have been ever since I got my Cricket lightweight.

Dsvirsky - Sorry about the clip on the "Q". Thought it seemed like a workable idea, we were never able to work out all of the "bugs" in the concept. Perhaps again some time in the future?

Hmmmmm....... I've had my "Q" for about a year now and never had any problems with the clip, and it's with me at all times. Just lucky I guess.

dsvirsky,
I am looking forward to the arrival of the Almite from Ironstone. Another good choice is the Benchmade 330 "gent". Its a 2.3" blade (ATS-34) linerlock with titanium liners and partial G-10 scales. Its available in combo or plain edge. Mine is plain, of coarse. I like mine a lot. It does not have clip which is fine with me. Its a very classy little knife. I use it as a keychain knife. Very light weight and thin. About the same money is the Almite.
