Retiring my Super Tool

I'm retiring my 10 yo super tool to permanent residence in my bug out bag. I need a replacement, but frankly the whole multi tool universe has changed quite a bit. It's duties were centered around home use.

I'd like a few recommendations,
1. I _think_ I'd prefer a 4" tool, but will consider others.
2. Mainly used @ home, but I do more camping/bushcraft than in the past.

Thanks,

Mark

Supter Tool 300 :) (or wait a year for the Rebar :P ) It's a hefty tool, but if you're not planning on carrying it in your pocket for EDC, shouldn't be an issue.

However, if you want something a bit more carry friendly, Charges and Waves are solid choices.

the leatherman wave works well for my uses. i recently bought a pocket clip addon and i edc it pretty regularly. but if i had to buy a new leatherman i would get a charge tti for the upgraded knife steel.

For bushcraft id go with a SAK or swisstool, i've used leatherman in the woods and their saw sucks. OR, go with the surge and buy yourself some replacement saw for the holder. I've since switched from swisstool to surge. Surge rusts more freely though, i have not a speck of rust on my swisstool.

for just 'around the house duty, would not an old style vic soldier or pioneer do good for you?

at any rate, i hope you find the right suggestion!!!

OK! what is this Rebar? Explain in detail please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vic SwissTool. (whatever variety you like)

I have an original one. The finish is great, and it has the killer saw that Vics are famous for. They even have versions that come with a separate bit driver that stores in the pouch along with it.

IMO, these are higher quality than the Leatherman offerings. But one thing I prefer on the Leathermen are the sharp-cornered screwdrivers.

What exactly are you trying to saw? It's a multitool, not a magic bag o' tricks.

I've used the saw on my Charge to trim branches away from my tent site, and I found it perfectly adequate. You have to be careful not to bend it too much, but if you're sawing things thicker than ~2" on a regular basis you probably need a proper folding saw.

Edit to add: I really like my Charge, especially the bit driver. A lot of people hate the interchangeable bits, but if you use anything other than a phillips or flathead fairly regularly and don't push it too much (i.e. use a lot of torque), it's incredibly convenient. But if you use your wire cutters heavily I would go with the Supertool 300 for the replaceable ones.
